my current fitness routine

October 2019, I decided to renew my gym membership. And instead of running, I started to do strength training. I had no idea what I was doing but was starting to see some results.

At the end of February this year, I decided to book a session with a personal trainer so I had more of a plan. A way to really gain muscle.

And then lockdown happened. No more gym. And home work-outs don’t really do it for me. I did my Yoga Teacher Training during lockdown to keep me busy, but other than that, my health and fitness kind of took a backseat.

I went back in August, but now we’ve just had a second national lockdown, so I’m pretty much back at square one. Again. But I have gotten into a nice little routine that I will (hopefully) be able to keep up for a while.

I prefer getting my work-outs done first thing in the morning – and since I start work at 7 am during the week (doing school runs), I get up at 5am.

Monday – Legs

3×20 Squads
Heavy squads 4×8
Leg sprints

Tuesday – Back and Biceps

Pull-ups 3×10
Deadlifts 4×8
Bicep curls 6×12

Wednesday – Legs

Leg extensions 6×12
Leg press 6×12
Hip adduction 6×12
Hip abduction 6×12

Thursday – Chest and Triceps

Bench press 6×12
Rear flies 6×12
Dips 6×12
Tricep extension 6×12

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

These days are mostly rest days, but if I feel like it, I’ll do a few short ab work-outs (I love MadFIT’s videos!)

I do switch things up a bit in the gym, but these are the exercises that I do most!

And that is my current fitness routine. How often do you go to the gym?

I actually quit the gym because of the pandemic, it just doesn’t feel safe to me. I’ve been doing a mix of cardio and yoga with long walks outside instead.

You’ve got good reps! I can only do half of what you do! Make me miss the gym all of a sudden.
