Sustainable products // Living Alone Diaries

We all know the planet isn’t doing too great. I’ve already written a few posts on how to reduce your ecological footprint and how to travel more eco-friendly.

Today, I would like to recommend some brands and products that I’ve been using since living on my own. Nothing in this post is sponsored. I just genuinely love using these products/brands and think more people should know about them.

If you have any other products/brands that are available in the UK, I would love to hear about them!

Who gives a crap

Who gives a crap sells recycled toilet paper, tissues and paper towels. All in completely recyclable packaging and delivered straight to your door. I also really love their marketing, which involves a lot of puns.

Also available in the US!

Smol laundry capsules and dishwasher tablets

Smol is a subscription service. When you first sign up to order laundry capsules or dishwasher tablets, you tell them how many times per week you use the dishwasher/washing machine. Based on that, they will determine how often they should send you a new box.

Boxes contain 24 laundry capsules or dishwasher tablets and are £3.99 each.

FFS – Friction Free Shaving

Friction Free Shaving is another subscription service where they send you a free metal handle when you sign up and four new blades every month/two months. Completely vegan and cruelty-free and all their packaging is completely recyclable.

What was an extra bonus for me when I signed up with FFS, is that they also give you the opportunity to recycle used blades. You just collect them at home, send them to Friction Free Shaving, and they will recycle them for you.

If you sign up with FFS via this link, you get a free engraved handle, blades and £3 off your purchase!

Reusable bags

Not just shopping bags, but also produce bags. While most fruit and vegetables in shops in England are wrapped in plastic, there are some things that you can buy without them being wrapped in plastic. And that’s where these come in!

Reusable coffee cups

I have quite a few of these, but my current favourites are my rCUP (made from recycled coffee cups) and my Stojo (a foldable coffee cup so it doesn’t take up as much space in your bag).

That’s all the products and brands I’ve been using. Like I said, if you have any other recommendations, please let me know!

These are all really great ways to be more planet friendly. I love the toilet paper idea, and I often use reusable bags at the grocery store. I’ll have to try some of the others out. Thanks for sharing!

Ooh! I’m super curious now about the Smol laundry capsules and dishwasher tablets. We buy in bulk to cut down on the plastic, but this still sounds like it would be quite the savings. And we’re all about the reusable bags!

Buying in bulk is also a great idea! With Smol all of the packing is recyclable though so no plastic to worry about!

It’s something we all need to think about, we are constantly trying to source ways to improve in our holiday rentals.
