Last week, I had a not-so-great day.
A whole bunch of other stuff happened that just put me in a bad mood. And I realize that, compared to other people in the world, I have a pretty amazing life and that I really don’t have anything to complain about. But it was just one of those days.
And I think everyone goes through those days sometimes. So, in order to turn my shitty day into something positive, I decided to write this post about how to make yourself feel better on days like the one I had last week.
I have a whole list of things that will make you feel better that I posted just over a year ago. There might be some repeats in this post. But this is what I did to cheer myself up.
Treat yourself to your favourite hot drink
In my post about my New Years’ Resolutions, I clearly stated that I wanted to buy less coffee and start drinking it at home instead. And I’ve been doing pretty well. But I decided that sometimes you just need that fancy drink that you can’t make at home.
Go for a walk
It will clear your head. For me, this is quite easily done, since I have to walk the dogs every weekday. Not just exercising, but being outside in the fresh air is a great way to clear your mind and it will make you feel better.
Do some yoga
Another New Years’ Resolution that I’ve been doing really well at. I really didn’t feel like doing yoga today, but I forced myself onto my mat and felt so much better afterward. Again, with the exercising.
Listen to music that makes you happy
Because who doesn’t love a good dance party?
Clean
Usually, when I’m stressed or feeling down, I clean. I don’t know why but there’s something about it that makes me feel so much better every time I do it!

For if you just need to escape your own life for a little while.
By the end of the day, I was feeling a lot better. (This also had something to do with the fact that my broken boiler got fixed and I had a really nice long shower.)
What are some things you like to do when you’re feeling down?
These are all great ways to try and cure a bad day! I love exercising if the day was truly horrible, but if it was just along rough day, my favorite hot beverage is a great go-to. I’ll have to give your other suggestions a try as well. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve personally tried the cleaning bit and it really is effective! Something about organizing your space helps clear your head a bit. Great post!
Yoga and walks always help me on my bad days. This is great info to help!
I love this topic, always gives me a little bit of sense what I need to do and be prepared for. Thanks!
Life becomes really tough and life can be extremely stressful at such time. love this topic! every single one of them is such an important guide.
Usually cleaning and walking are what i do when i need to think so when i am feeling bad i need an escape. I read, watch a movie, do something with other people, anything that will get me out of my own head and thinking of others instead.
Yes! Music works wonders when you’re not feeling it.
Some of my favorite music can always change my mood!!!!
These are all great! I find being patient with myself is another big help.
Taking a walk is always great for if you have a bad day. It helps me process things better and to think more clearly for sure.
If I have a bad day, I try and plan some GOOD in it – a nice meal, maybe a nap, call a friend, etc.
I like to go for a run. No matter how bad I feel, I always feel better after a run. Even if it’s just because it’s over, and I’m home again.
