Monthly Update: March 2018

I know, I know. I didn’t do a monthly update in February. But that was only because I hadn’t really done much and there was nothing for me to talk about.

This past month, however, was a good month and I did loads of things.
Some of the highlights of March:

  • I dyed my hair pink!
  • We had two Singstar nights with the other au pairs
  • There are a couple of new au pairs in Aldershot that are actually fun to hang out with
  • The first trailer for Crimes of Grindelwald came out and it was glorious
  • I got the results of my final exam

Read 75 books – I haven’t been reading as much this month, but so far, I have read 45 books in 2018. Still on track for my reading goal.

Finish writing a book – I sort of stopped writing Text Talk, the project I was writing for last NaNoWriMo and that I was very excited about. Just had to take a break from that one. But, I did write a short story that I’m actually publishing through Amazon. #buymybook.

Do at least one cultural thing a month in 2018 – Check. I went to see Black Panther in the cinema with my host-dad. Everything’s been talking about that film, and I wanted to see what all the fuzz was about. It was okay, not as amazing as everyone’s been saying. But then again, I am really picky when it comes to films. I went to Notting Hill with one of the other au pairs, which is always fun, and then, last Sunday, I went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Finally. I booked these tickets almost a year in advance (as soon as I knew I was coming to England as an au pair). It was absolute shit, though, and I don’t recommend going to see this.

Graduate – I PASSED MY FINAL EXAM! I still can’t really believe it, but I never have to go back to school to do one of their horrible exams. I’m done. Before I can graduate, though, I do have to finish writing my thesis. Still working on that one.

At the end of February, I got the flu, and people kept asking me if I had gone to the doctors yet. I hadn’t because I wasn’t even registered with one. And I had zero incentive to actually do that because I’m healthy and I won’t run out of my only prescription until June. But I did register with a GP this month. I printed out the NHS-form from their website, filled it in and registered with a GP. Now I actually have someone to go to if I get really ill. Also, this is just one more thing to prove that I really live here when Brexit happens.

Last week, I wrote down a list of stuff that I wanted to do. I have already done some of those things, but not all, so that is my goal for April. There is also one thing that I’d like to add to that list: Write a short story (I already have a plot and title, it just has to be written down). Might participate in Camp NaNoWriMo to get this done. And read more books.

So, that was my update for March. There is definitely going to be an update in April because I have a lot of exciting things planned for that month!
