Ready for Spring

Last week, I had a great week. The kids had the day off on Monday so, being the amazing au pair that I am, I took them out to the swimming pool. That got them so tired that they just watched tv for the rest of the day. Job done. The rest of the week, I got a lot of work done, and I watched the second season of Jessica Jones. The weather was great. It was sunny, warm (for England in March) and I was so ready for spring to start. On Friday, I actually cleared most of my winter clothes out of my closet and put my spring stuff in there. But then, on Saturday, it snowed. And now, as I’m writing this, there is still snow outside, which makes me feel really depressed.

It’s the worst feeling in the world to think that winter is finally over and then to have to put all your winter clothes back in your closet. (Maybe, just maybe, I was a bit early with getting rid of those clothes…) I know that there’s a chance of snow in March. It can even snow in April. I’m used to shitty weather because the weather in the Netherlands is exactly the same as in England. But just because I’m used to it, doesn’t mean I like it.

Cold weather doesn’t do anything for me. I feel unmotivated and uninspired. I don’t even feel like watching some of my favourite tv shows. All I want to do is curl up in my bed and sleep. And that feeling sucks. This morning, I actually made myself go to the gym, and it felt good. But then, once I got home, I didn’t do anything other than watch YouTube videos and stared out of the window.

Hopefully, it will start to get warmer soon. I’m ready to start wearing t-shirts and dungarees instead of jumpers and leggings. I also want to do some spring cleaning in my room and have a list of stuff that I want to get done:

  • Get rid of clothes I’m no longer going to wear
  • Reorganise my books
  • Tidy up EVERYTHING
  • Get some new plants (I killed the one Lauren got me)
  • Finally start writing my thesis again.
  • Write
  • Plan my road trip for the summer
  • Make some good playlists for on the road

Let’s see how many of these things I can get done over the next two weeks, shall we?
